The Tailor Becomes King
bölüm 3

The king was impressed but suspicious. He did not quite believe that this small, thin man had defeated two giants. So he set two more impossible tasks, hoping the tailor would fail.

First, the king ordered the tailor to capture a ferocious wild boar that had been terrorising the royal forest. The boar was enormous, with razor-sharp tusks and a terrible temper.

The tailor found the boar and let it chase him — straight towards a small chapel in the forest. At the last moment, the tailor leaped through a window. The boar charged through the door. The tailor ran around the outside, slammed the door shut, and locked the boar inside. Task completed.

Next, the king ordered the tailor to capture a unicorn that had been damaging the orchards. The tailor stood in front of a large tree and waited for the unicorn to charge at him. At the very last second, he stepped aside, and the unicorn's horn drove deep into the tree trunk, trapping it. The tailor calmly tied a rope around its neck and led it to the palace.

The king had no more excuses. He had promised his kingdom and his daughter, and a king must keep his word — however reluctantly.

The tailor married the princess and was given half the kingdom. But his new wife soon discovered the truth. She overheard the tailor talking in his sleep: "Boy, finish that jacket and mend those trousers, or I'll box your ears!"

"He's a tailor!" she told her father. "Not a warrior! He's been tricking everyone!"

The king devised a plan to have the tailor seized in his sleep. But the tailor's loyal servant warned him. That night, the tailor pretended to be asleep and shouted loudly enough for the soldiers outside his door to hear:

"I have killed seven at one blow! I have defeated two giants, captured a wild boar, and tamed a unicorn! Do you think I am afraid of the men standing outside my bedroom door?"

The soldiers heard this and fled in terror. Nobody ever challenged the brave little tailor again.

And so the thin, cheerful little man who had once killed seven flies with a dishcloth lived out his days as a king — proving, once and for all, that it is not the size of the person that matters, but the size of their courage and the sharpness of their mind.

The Brave Little Tailor
The Tailor Becomes King
A small tailor kills seven flies with one blow and embroiders a belt proclaiming his deed. Everyone assumes he killed seven men, and his reputation grows far beyond the truth — leading to encounters with giants, a wild boar, and a king.
