Simpleton picked up the golden goose and carried it to a nearby inn. He decided to stay the night.

The innkeeper had three daughters. When they saw the golden goose, their eyes grew wide with greed.

"Look at those golden feathers!" whispered the oldest daughter. "If I pull out just one feather, I will be rich!"

That night, when Simpleton was asleep, the oldest daughter crept into his room. She reached out and grabbed the goose's tail.

STICK!

Her hand was stuck! She could not let go! She pulled and pulled, but her hand was glued to the golden feathers.

"Help!" she whispered loudly. "I'm stuck!"

The second daughter came to help. She grabbed her sister's arm to pull her free.

STICK!

Now the second daughter was stuck to the first daughter!

The third daughter ran in to help. She grabbed the second daughter's dress.

STICK!

Now all three daughters were stuck — to each other and to the goose.

The next morning, Simpleton woke up. He picked up the golden goose and walked out of the inn. He did not look back. The three daughters had to follow — they were stuck and had no choice.

"Stop! Wait! Let us go!" they cried.

But Simpleton walked on, and the three girls stumbled along behind him.

In the village, a parson saw the three girls running after a young man. "Shame on you, girls! Stop chasing that boy!" He grabbed the youngest daughter's hand.

STICK!

Now the parson was stuck too!

The parson's assistant saw his master being dragged through the street. He grabbed the parson's coat.

STICK!

Two farmers tried to help. They each grabbed the assistant.

STICK! STICK!

And so Simpleton walked through the village with the golden goose under his arm, followed by three innkeeper's daughters, a parson, his assistant, and two farmers — all stuck to each other, all stumbling and shouting and tripping over each other.

It was the funniest thing anyone had ever seen.
